    Your Majesty, Members of the Nobel Committee, Brothers and Sisters. I am very happy to be here with you today to receive the Nobel Prize for Peace. I feel honored, humbled and deeply moved that you should give this important prize to a simple monk from Tibet I am no one special. But I believe the prize is a recognition of the true value of altruism, love, compassion and non-violence which I try to practice, in accordance with the teachings of the Buddha and the great sages of India and Tibet

    I accept the prize with profound gratitude on behalf of the oppressed everywhere and for all those who struggle for freedom and work for world peace. I accept it as a tribute to the man who founded the modern tradition of non-violent action for change Mahatma Gandhi whose life taught and inspired me. And, of course, I accept it on behalf of the six million Tibetan people, my brave countrymen and women inside Tibet, who have suffered and continue to suffer so much. They confront a calculated and systematic strategy aimed at the destruction of their national and cultural identities. The prize reaffirms our conviction that with truth, courage and determination as our weapons, Tibet will be liberated.

    No matter what part of the world we come from, we are all basically the same human beings. We all seek happiness and try to avoid suffering. We have the same basic human needs and is concerns. All of us human beings want freedom and the right to determine our own destiny as individuals and as peoples. That is human nature. The great changes that are taking place everywhere in the world, from Eastern Europe to Africa are a clear indication of this.

    In China the popular movement for democracy was crushed by brutal force in June this year. But I do not believe the demonstrations were in vain, because the spirit of freedom was rekindled among the Chinese people and China cannot escape the impact of this spirit of freedom sweeping many parts of the world. The brave students and their supporters showed the Chinese leadership and the world the human face of that great nation.

    Last week a number of Tibetans were once again sentenced to prison terms of upto nineteen years at a mass show trial, possibly intended to frighten the population before today’s event. Their only ‘crime” was the expression of the widespread desire of Tibetans for the restoration of their beloved country’s independence.

    The suffering of our people during the past forty years of occupation is well documented. Ours has been a long struggle. We know our cause is just Because violence can only breed more violence and suffering, our struggle must remain non-violent and free of hatred. We are trying to end the suffering of our people, not to inflict suffering upon others.

    It is with this in mind that I proposed negotiations between Tibet and China on numerous occasions. In 1987, I made specific proposals in a Five-Point plan for the restoration of peace and human rights in Tibet. This included the conversion of the entire Tibetan plateau into a Zone of Ahimsa, a sanctuary of peace and non-violence where human beings and nature can live in peace and harmony.

    last year, I elaborated on that plan in Strasbourg, at the European Parliament I believe the ideas I expressed on those occasions are both realistic. and reasonable although they have been criticised by some of my people as being too conciliatory. Unfortunately, China’s leaders have not responded positively to the suggestions we have made, which included important concessions. If this continues we will be compelled to reconsider our position.

    Any relationship between Tibet and China will have to be based on the principle of equality, respect, trust and mutual benefit. It will also have to be based on the principle which the wise rulers of Tibet and of China laid down in a treaty as early as 823 AD, carved on the pillar which still stands today in front of the Jokhang, Tibet’s holiest shrine, in Lhasa, that “Tibetans will live happily in the great land of Tibet, and the Chinese will live happily in the great land of China”.

    As a Buddhist monk, my concern extends to all members of the human family and, indeed, to all sentient beings who suffer. I believe all suffering is caused by ignorance. People inflict pain on others in the selfish pursuit of their happiness or satisfaction. Yet true happiness comes from a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood. We need to cultivate a universal responsibility for one another and the planet we share. Although I have found my own Buddhist religion helpful in generating love and compassion, even for those we consider our enemies, I am convinced that everyone can develop a good heart and a sense of universal responsibility with or without religion.

    With the ever growing impact of science on our lives, religion and spirituality have a greater role to play reminding us of our humanity. There is no contradiction between the two. Each gives us valuable insights into the other. Both science and the teachings of the Buddha tell us of the fundamental unity of all things. This understanding is crucial if we are to take positive and decisive action on the pressing global concern with the environment.

    I believe all religions pursue the same goals, that of cultivating human goodness and bringing happiness to all human beings. Though the means might appear different the ends are the same.

    As we enter the final decade of this century I am optimistic that the ancient values that have sustained mankind are today reaffirming themselves to prepare us for a kinder, happier twenty-first century.

    I pray for all of us, oppressor and friend, that together we succeed in building a better world through human under-standing and love, and that in doing so we may reduce the pain and suffering of all sentient beings.

    martinlutherking2hk6.jpgI am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

    Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves, who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity. But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination.

    One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. So we’ve come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

    In a sense we have come to our nation’s capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the inalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

    It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked “insufficient funds.”

    But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. So we have come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.

    We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children.

    It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro’s legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end but a beginning. Those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual.

    There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

    But there is something that I must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must ever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.

    The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. They have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone.

    And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, “When will you be satisfied?” We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

    I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecutions and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed. Let us not wallow in the valley of despair. I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow. I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

    I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed; we hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal.

    I have a dream,

    that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

    I have a dream,

    that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

    I have a dream,

    that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

    I have a dream today!

    I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right down in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today!

    I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain and the crooked places will be made straight and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.

    This is our hope. This is the faith that I will go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day. This will be the day, this will be the day when all of God’s children will be able to sing with new meaning “My country ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim’s pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring!” And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.

    And so let freedom ring

    from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

    Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.

    Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.

    Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

    Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.

    But not only that.

    Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.

    Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

    Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi, from every mountainside,

    let freedom ring! And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, “Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty, we are free at last.”

    In an effort to learn more about Hindus (and for a good excuse to pary) Michael encourages all of the staff to atten a Diwali.

    Michael really enjoyed the party, but not really the food.

    Michael invited Carole to come along. They were having a good time, and it seems like Carole really likes Michael…but not enough to marry him. Michael was in the moment and proposed to Carole in front of the whole crowd. It didn’t go over well, and Carole left angry.

    Kelly’s parents (who are Mindy’s parents in real life) don’t like Ryan very much. They are encouraging Kelly to marry a doctor instead. Ryan seems to want this as well.

    Pam seemed to really enjoy herself at the Diwali. She just has a good attitude about things. Studly Roy shows up during the party, but it was too hard for him to see Pam dancing and enjoying herself. (How many male LITO readers have been there? Amen brother.)

    Pam also tried to reach out to Jim in some text messaging, but he was up in Stamford taking shots and was too out of it to respond. This bummed Pam out.

    Andy was the ones to provide the shots and he took full advantage of them. He was laying on the floor and busted out in song.

    Karen may have been the smartest of all. She avoided the shots and got drunken Jim just where she wanted him. He wasn’t able to ride his bike home so she offered a ride.

    The episode was good. I enjoyed it more than I was expecting. I loved Jim’s fall, Andy’s singing and Michael’s dancing. But I didn’t appreciate that the show had no ending. I mean, it’s always too short, but what was up with the ending? Rather than progress the plot, they jumped back in time and showed Michael songing the song. Not fun. At least we have some longer episodes coming up.

    Pirateweather is dominating the call me weather market…

    Pirateweather.com, who does on demand local weather podcasts for every zip code in the USA and every airport in the world, seems to be dominating in the weather podcasting market. Their free service does local weather podcasts via NOAA and their TTS (text to speech), kinda cool what it does. You enter your zipcode, then their engine goes to NOAA and gets your latest weather information, then it generates a mp3 from its text to speech software (and it sounds great), and uses the latest in RSS feeds to generate a one of a kind Instant weather service podcast… The image above shows that the people who are using the snapvine.com service to call into the weather from teir mobile phones are using Pirate Weather for their weather at least 90% of the time…

    Fuel economy feedback in vehicles is one of the low-hanging fruits of green(er) transportation. We said a while ago that we want fuel economy feedback in all cars because it can change the driving habits of many people who are currently getting much worse mileage than what their cars can realistically do. When you stop to think about it, it’s pretty obvious what causes good or bad fuel economy, but that’s exactly the problem: Most people don’t stop to think about it, or at least not while they are driving. They need constant reminders. Even while gasping at the pump most people seem to think that their current fuel consumption average is mostly out of their control, a factor of the car they drive only. Well, Toyota just made a step in the right direction, though not far enough…

    virtusphere makes gamers skinny

    With the creation of the VirtuSphere™, Virtual Reality technology has
    developed sufficiently to permit users to leave behind the keyboard or mouse
    and immerse in this exciting new medium. The VirtuSphere is
    currently the only technology in the world, which permits the user to move about
    in virtual space through the most natural movement of all – by walking.

    The device consists of a large hollow sphere, which is placed on a special
    platform that allows the sphere to rotate in any direction as the user walks
    within the sphere.

    The user enters the sphere with a head mounted display, which permits virtual
    vision in any direction. As the user moves, the sensors under the sphere
    transmit information about the users speed and direction to the computer. The
    user looks at the head mounted display and sees a virtual three dimensional
    space which is generated by the computer in response to his-or-her movements.
    The user can interact with objects in virtual space with the help of a special

    The VirtuSphere allows the user to walk “inside” computer generated virtual
    space while being totally immersed. For example, the user could carry out
    “virtual explorations” of museums or a new city, or conduct
    police or military

    WHO:

    Pool children from around the world. Match each kid up with 9 other kids with diverse backgrounds and geographic locations.     HOW:

    Create a curriculum that embraces subjects where being from a different culture might give different insights or views.

    Subject samples ? African elephant wikipedia task the ten kids will be responsible for creating a wikipedia page/journal that defines, all the basics of the African elephant from definition to Latin names to endangered status ? population ? efforts to save ? educational sources ? pioneers/mentors for African elephants they will be assigned to specific task to locate? photos ? videos ? each media will have a comments field for each kid to react with their feelings and thought ? each kid will be able to bookmark each media source and make their own notes. The 10 kids will be fully responsible for the content and getting the required media permissions to use and develop the content. Translations ? cultural views - once completed it will be review by a qualified educator and be rated accordingly with suggestions for improvements and or additional work to be done. ?

    CREDIT:

    Each of the 10 kids will be given an epid id that will give them credit for the collaboration that can be attached to their (EPID) Educational Passport ID (the epids concept)

    Verify the identity, geographic location, age, level of education of each child.

    Then match up 10 children to participate and share their education and world experience through weekly interaction and group projects.

    WHY:
    These same children will stay together thru their entire educational process and hopefully become lifelong friends. Think of them as pen pals on steroids. Wouldn?t have been cool to have friends from all over the world starting so early in life. Breaking down the barriers of the world and letting our future generations lead by example without borders.

    Doctors Without Borders Launches Podcasts

    The international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) has launched its first podcast, featuring dispatches from the medical frontlines in southern Sudan, Colombia, and Nigeria. The MSF podcasts, titled Frontline Reports, will provide emergency updates from MSF projects around the world, shedding light on underreported or ignored humanitarian crises and neglected diseases. Listeners will hear interviews with MSF staff in the field and with the patients they are helping. Topics will range from the daily struggle for survival among refugees affected by war and natural disaster to the obstacles confronting people living with HIV/AIDS in the developing world.

    MSF launches national tour of interactive refugee camp exhibit

    An interactive, educational exhibit, entitled “A Refugee Camp in the Heart of the City,” will begin a multi-year national tour in New York City’s Central Park on September 15, 2006, followed by stops in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, Atlanta’s Piedmont Park, Nashville’s Centennial Park, and additional cities to be announced. “A staggering 33 million people are currently displaced from their homes, having fled violence in more than 60 different countries around the world,” said Nicolas de Torrenté, executive director of MSF in the United States. “As long as the response to the plight of uprooted people remains inadequate, we must continue to work to raise awareness of their conditions through public education initiatives like ‘A Refugee Camp in the Heart of the City.’”

    Get your own online interactive orphan.

    What if you could get an email message from your virtual orphan once a week? Better yet, what if you could see pictures of your orphan every day/week/month? How about actually seeing and interacting with him/her via a live web cam? Well technology has finally caught up to us. Now is the time to use the new web2.0 technologies to work for a good cause.

    What will it look like?

    Essentially each orphan would have his or her own blog. In the blog would be the latest images, daily diary, and activities they have participated.

    NEEDS:

    There could also be a list of things this kid needs:
    Clothing, pencils, rice. Flu vaccination, aids treatment. There could be a donation link funded by pay pal.

    Technology:

    With the advent of RSS feeds, IM, Video-mail, e-mail, flickr and the slew of web 2.0 technologies being developed. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see them at work for a worthy cause?

    Pay pal Accounts donated and managed by pay pal or international banking institutions. Each account will keep tract of your money and exactly what it was/is being used for. Not only that but you get to decide how it is divide between the needs of your orphans.

    Example: (This will be a global effort, the sponsor can choose a local or international orphanage.)

    Tsunami Indonesia orphanage, 100 kids, 1 to 3 volunteers, working with orphans, taking pictures, interviewing, videoing, tracking the activity and improvements of the orphan and orphanages. Tracking the needs and interacting with the existing infrastructure to meet the needs of the kids. Possibility of adoptions here? Maybe research this.

    Each child will have a time each day to do their daily/weekly “hi, what I did today/this week,” each of these times would be accessible by their sponsors. Each sponsor would be able to see them either live or via video podcasts. See your money working. Each child could have an archive of previous posts. Money wise, it would be great to see all transactions and accounting kept in a semi public space, where each sponsor could see where money is needed and how the money is being used.

    WHY:

    Invisible children still exist and you can make a visible difference.

    Virtual orphan embedded web tags and links to your virtual orphan, that each person who is a sponsor and link into their myspace, personal and professional websites, showing they care and driving massive traffic to a worthy cause.

    Volunteers:

    All volunteer travel, room and board expenses will be paid for by our sponsors. Maybe we can get grants from National Geographic, Discovery, Sony, Nikon, and Apple…and allow limited sponsorship for the project. Each volunteer will need to be sponsored and/or be financially liable for their expenses and donate their time and efforts to expose the needs of each orphanage. Each volunteer will need to submit a resume and documentation of skill sets needed to make this project happen. Ten letters of recommendation, proof of education, proof of skills, proof of identity, interview process will be done by each volunteer in a video format and posted to our volunteer site. they will select their destination and they will be voted into their assignment by need and by our sponsors. This will keep us from sending burdensome volunteers and assure a quality project.

    feed2podcast will soon develop an application that will allow the blind to browse tag clouded sites like technoradi shadow and delcious and others. Useing the feed2podcast engine, when a blind person moves the mouse around the screen they will hear what the most popular tags are and then can click the word being spoken by feed2podcast, when the blind browser drills down on a specific blog they want to hear, they click again.


    Does this already exist? not for blogs
    Well kinda, http://odeo.com/tags has it but you browse podcasts by tags.

    We see it as the best way for blind folks to keep up on what popular on the internet.

    Not to mention that is a blind person wanted to listen to all blogs tagged with (blindpeople) or any subject, all they would need to do is do a google blog search for “blindpeople” and they would hear the latest blogs about the blind. Here is an example…

    It be wonderful to have your great grandfather read “a night before christmas,” for your kids on Christmas eve? The folks here at feed2podcast will be exploring the world of voice banking in the year 2006. It seems to be a perfect fit for podcasting. What if you could have Morgan Freedman or your favorite celebrity voice, read your blog?     WHO:

    Pool children from around the world. Match each kid up with 9 other kids with diverse backgrounds and geographic locations. Create a private network environment for them via the internet, that embodies constant and continued creative and task oriented interaction. share their education and world experience through weekly interaction and group projects.

    HOW:

    Think of it as a blog based template with myspace traits, including all the latest delivery methods – rss, podcasts, video chat, video mail, email, collaborative websites like writely and the like. uTube, mit’s 100 dollar computer,

    WHAT:

    Create a curriculum that embraces subjects where being from a different culture might give different insights or views.

    Subject samples – African elephant wikipedia task the ten kids will be responsible for creating a wikipedia page/journal that defines, all the basics of the African elephant from definition to Latin names to endangered status – population – efforts to save – educational sources – pioneers/mentors for African elephants they will be assigned to specific task to locate– photos – videos – each media will have a comments field for each kid to react with their feelings and thought – each kid will be able to bookmark each media source and make their own notes. The 10 kids will be fully responsible for the content and getting the required media permissions to use and develop the content. Translations – cultural views - once completed it will be review by a qualified educator and be rated accordingly with suggestions for improvements and or additional work to be done. –

    CREDIT:

    Each of the 10 kids will be given an epid id that will give them credit for the collaboration that can be attached to their (EPID) Educational Passport ID (the epids concept)

    Verify the identity, geographic location, age, level of education of each child.

    Then match up 10 children to participate and share their education and world experience through weekly interaction and group projects.

    WHY:
    These same children will stay together thru their entire educational process and hopefully become lifelong friends. Think of them as pen pals on steroids. Wouldn’t have been cool to have friends from all over the world starting so early in life. Breaking down the barriers of the world and letting our future generations lead by example without borders.

    Great start in Open Education Project

    The folks at MIT are doing something that could change the world as we know it. It’s called open course ware. Yep thats right free education to anyone with a computer and internet connection.In the words of MIT President Susan Hockfield

    “OpenCourseWare expresses in an immediate and far-reaching way MIT’s goal of advancing education around the world. Through MIT OCW, educators and students everywhere can benefit from the academic activities of our faculty and join a global learning community in which knowledge and ideas are shared openly and freely for the benefit of all.”

    I am sure I am not alone but this kind of thing could drastically change the world for the better.

    Think about it!

    Kid on rice farm has access to the same education as a kid from lets say Boulder, CO. In 20 Years they could be competeing for the same job.

    Wow, a free education. Now all we need is a way to document a students progress and record it for employers to see.

    Here is a concept:

    Education Passport ID: or EPID’s Each Student will have a unique login and access/bio, EVERYTHING will be tracked. From how many times a certain lesion is accessed to grades on tests and learning curve in the whole (ie the average test scores for everyone in the age group and times taken and times accessed) Suggestions for additional learning and tutorials will be available thru automation and statistics based on the whole.

    This EPID will serve as documentation of an education and could be used as proof of knowledge. So if some Kid from Bosnia sends in an application to Microsoft to become a coder, all applications are anonomus. They can see everything she has done from birth to qualify herself for the job. School projects, papers, creative works, body of education applied content. Past studies will be accessible on demand by bookmarks or personalized cliff notes on stuff not easily learned or areas for quick reference for a particular student. This way when a programmer or widget maker forgets something they forget all the time they can create a memory clip or notepad bookmark to access to information efficiently. Possible recording of type of learning that works well with this type of person. For possible identifyication of current and beginning students to lead them to their type of teacher. Visual vs words, practice vs theory, aptitude vs learned etc…

    Data mining for employers: Ten years from now maybe even sooner, a company can have blind access to EPID’s, meaning they can see qualifications, imperial data, School projects, papers, creative works, body of education applied content even access to specific aptitude tests for potential employee candidates. So, now equal rights are not an issue. In theory this concept could be responsible for putting the best minds in the right places, kick starting aptitude evolution.

    With all the violence going on in the world today it is sure nice to see those turbo geeks over at MIT and other OCW contributors, finding quite solutions to a peacefull future.
